Description
Blues for Four String Quartet
This piece is of course, based on the 12 bar blues in G major. While the melodic is shared around the ensemble, it is primarily in the 1st violin and cello so stronger players will need to be assigned these parts.
The work should be taken at a moderate tempo or one which all ensemble members feel comfortable with. Sit back on the tempo a little and don’t be afraid to add some stylistic nuances such as slides and turns where appropriate.
The triplets from bar 37 should not be rushed at all. Please feel free to experiment with the dynamics as those already marked are a guide.
The 3rd Violin part covers the Viola line for convenience.
Have fun playing this one together!
Enjoy!
