Recollections for Piano Trio
Performance notes from the composer…
Through Recollections, I have attempted to capture some of my Scottish heritage. At the very start of this work, the piano drone in the left hand sets the mood of this piece. The melody is simple and folk based and this is utilised through the entire piece with variations.
A new idea is introduced in the violin at D (37) and this should be played as marked. This section is in G major and can be played a little quicker if needed.
Overall, the simplistic melodies need to be highlighted so when it’s your turn to play bring, always play out strongly and the accompanying figures drop back a little.
