Theme and Variations for 2 Violins and Piano
This little piece is a dedicated ensemble work as it shares all of the melodic material around the group and everyone is of equal importance within the musical roles.
The melody is simple and the time remains in 3-4 through each variation. Some of the variations are challenging and will require attention to detail through the learning process.
However, while the expression and articulation marks are there, do not be afraid to experiment with these, especially at E with the piano solo and at I with the material between the two violins.
Try to keep the tempos moving throughout but some rubato can be added at various points to add variety and further expression to the performance.
