A New Horizon for Orchestra
This work was composed for the Music Staff and Students at Newcastle Grammar School. It is my simple way of saying thank you for continuing to make amazing music at our School.
A New Horizon is an upbeat work with a simplistic opening melody. This should always be the focus and never hidden. As such, the dynamics must be played as directed to allow the subtleties of the harmonies to be fully realised.
The melody is shared around the orchestra and there are times where each section features in the work.
Another feature of this work is the use of the orchestral colours. Each phrase should be played as directed and the articulation patterns are quite important to the overall work.
I hope you all enjoy performing this work.
